About Labour Market Information

Labour Market Information(LMI) helps young people to understand employment in different sectors, occupations, wage levels and the skills/qualifications needed for these jobs. It is a critical element in the toolkit for young people to become well informed and realistic careers managers for their lives as students and workers. Information is available at national and local levels and will help students identify occupations that are in demand now and in the future

There are far too many occupations and courses for anyone person to be able to provide the information students may need to make decisions about their future so you may want to direct them to some of the resources below.

Providing information to students about LMI, including access to local labour market information and how to use it as a career planning tool contributes to Gatsby Benchmark 2– Learning from Career and Labour Market Information.

What is LMI?

The National Careers Service have produced a video which explains what LMI is and how it can be used in schools.
